Community Support
Since the August 2026 Flash floods in Nepal, Kathmandu Family Guest House has worked alongside Vineyard Himalayas to support affected families through community-led relief projects, including food hampers, drone deliveries, helicopter rescues, roofing repairs and psychological support.
Our Team.
The people who help coordinate our community, relief and property-support activities.

Josh Jigme Isaacs Bhotia
Operations Manager,
Josh's Story with Kathmandu Family Guest House goes back to 2019, when he helped project-manage the building of the guest house while working with Vineyard. He then left for New Zealand to study. When the flood hit in 2026, he was already back home and right in the middle of it. Today Josh keeps our community projects moving form organizing roofting crews and supplies to coordinating with partners and making sure help actually reaches the families who need it in a way, he's come full circle, back to the place he helped build.

Mishal Sherpa
General Manager,
Mishal is the steady hand behind Kathmandu Family Guest house. As General Manager he oversees all our community work, but you're just as likely to find him on site, rolling up his sleeves alongside the team whenever an extra pair of hands is needed. For Mishal, the guest house was always about more than a place to stay.
"If you ask me what I love most about this job, It isn't the guest house. It's the families who have a roof over their heads again.
Roofing Projects
Roofing Project of Matatirtha

Matatirta was built to give families from flood-affected villages a place to stay while their children studied in Kathmandu. The project included simple jasta-roofed housing with corrugated metal walls, creating a practical community space that could also be used as a drop-in support point when needed.

Dhunche Church & Community Support Point

The Dhunche church was first built as a place for the local community to gather. We helped with the construction of the jasta roof, stone walls and public toilets. Over time, the church also became a useful support point for receiving food, supplies and other help coming from Kathmandu for families in Rasuwa.

Planned Dhunche Family Support Centre

(Transitional Home for Flood Affected Children and Single Widows) also Drop-in Centre , Food Storage Centre for Relief Work and Also Clinical Outreach Centre
A new centre is being planned on land beside the church for children and single mothers affected by flooding. The aim is to create a safe place where families can stay, eat and receive support when they need it.

Food Deliveries
Food support has been an important part of our community activities. Working with local suppliers and volunteers, we have helped coordinate deliveries of rice and other basic food items for distribution to families in need. Supplies were often brought to a central location where volunteers could sort and prepare food baskets before distribution.

Psychological Team
Some community programs have included support for children and families experiencing difficult circumstances. Local volunteers and individuals with relevant experience have helped organize activities, conversations and small-group sessions intended to provide encouragement, social support and a safe environment for children to participate in learning and recreational activities.

Medical Support
Community assistance has also included basic hygiene and health-related support. Depending on the needs of individual families, this has involved distributing hygiene supplies, helping connect people with available local services and assisting with practical needs connected to health and wellbeing.
